Если это компромат, то почему он начал активно обсуждаться только сейчас, хотя неведомая бумажка из последней ссылки была широко известна уже с октября, то есть до выборов?

А в предпоследней ссылке прямо написано:

The report says the settlement of Barvikha, outside Moscow, is “reserved for the residences of the top leadership and their close associates.” It is not reserved for anyone, and it is also populated by the very wealthy.

Просто есть такие вопросы, которые надо задавать вовремя и в рамках определённой стратегии.

Замечательная стратегия: подрывать легитимность уже выбранного президента, а до выборов - помалкивать. Если кому-либо эта стратегия выгодна - то только Кремлю. Оказывается, все на крючке у всемогущего Путина. Что бы мы делали без "британского шпиона"?
Кстати, в США уже потоком идут твиттеры от различных журналистов (даже от Юлии Иоффе, уволенной из "Politico" за непристойный наезд на Трампа), которым в свое время подсовывали этот "компромат", но печатать они его отказались: даже Трамп не заслуживает грязных методов и, в конце концов, своя репутация важнее.

Грязных методов они никогда особо не стеснялись.
Там просто такой тухляк, что надо быть совершенно отчаянным человеком, чтобы за него взяться.
До выборов они были полны надежд, а отчаянья преисполнились только щас.

Не исключено, что это спектакль. Но сейчас нам этот спектакль на руку. Его целью может быть не столь делегитимация Трампа, сколь желание ему намекнуть, чтобы сидел на поводке смирно и тявкал лишь в ту сторону, в которую ему укажут. Пока он тявкает в сторону разведсообщества, отмазывая своего кремлёвского дружка от кибератак, попутно обещая признать Крым, слить Украину, снять с кремлёвской мафии санкции и разогнать НАТО.

But the allegations were only recently deemed credible — not proven, merely worth investigating — so are only recently getting top levels of scrutiny.

“Some of the memos were circulating as far back as last summer,” the CNN reporters explain. “What has changed since then is that US intelligence agencies have now checked out the former British intelligence operative and his vast network throughout Europe and find him and his sources to be credible enough to include some of the information in the presentations to the President and President-elect.”

Это мелкая неточность.

Это враньё. В pdf buzzfeed нет слова Barvikha.
